The Wounded Mists
Almost every major religious faction of the world has an explanation for the origin of the Wounded Mists. Some say they were the beginning of the Material Plane, a single point of creation that pushes outward to create all the geography and life on Medatouria. Others purport that it is a place where the boundaries between planes are weakest—the resulting planar chaos manifesting as a huge wasteland of impassable nothingness. Others claim that the area was created as a result of some sort of cataclysmic event or even a punishment from the heavens. More still believe that the Mist itself is some sort of deity, choosing the center of the world as its throne and devouring as offerings everything that enters its gaseous grasp.
Whatever the case, The Wounded Mists have been historically impassable, with none who willingly ventured in ever returning. Without the Harbinger’s Teeth mountain range to contain the mists, it’s unclear what kind of disastrous effects they would have on the surrounding kingdoms.
Despite study by groups like The Arcanians (Guild/Faction), as of yet there are no definitive or widely known answers about the mist’s makeup, origins, or effects.
